The Wondrous Cross of Jesus Christ Is the Intersection of:
• The sin of humankind, that says to God, “this is how much we hate You.”
• The wrath of the holy God upon the evil of sin. Jesus, who knew no sin, became sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God (2Cor 5:21).
• The love and mercy of God toward sinners, as He sent His only Son to bear the guilt and punishment for the sins of all the world. (John 3:16, Rom 5:8)
• The self-sacrificing love of Jesus, fully God and fully man, the one and only Mediator between God and man, who gave His life in our place, that we might receive forgiveness, reconciliation with God, and the gift of eternal life.
Truly, there is power in the blood of Jesus. Today on this Good Friday, let’s reflect on, and deeply appreciate, what makes it ‘good’: “Abel’s blood for vengeance pleadeth to the skies. But the blood of Jesus for our pardon cries.”
